Gold Coast

Bordered by Division St to the north, Lake Michigan to the east, Clark & Franklin streets to the west, and Chicago Ave to the south, Gold Coast is an affluent, mostly residential neighborhood defined by its stately homes and high-rise apartment buildings. Upscale shopping and dining options can be found along tree-lined North Rush, North Clark and East Oak streets. Man-made Oak Street Beach offers seasonal open-air restaurants and city views. The International Museum of Surgical Science is housed in a 1917 mansion.  The Gold Coast was added to the National Registry of Historical Places in 1978.
